This 6.4 Powerstroke does

The 2016 Diesel power challenge videos are up as well. Some of those trucks put down only 1000 HP to the wheels.
But also around 1800 torque.

yea i watched those. Insane the power they make and at that altitude. Imagine a dyno at sea level... :)

Except they almost all blew up, lol. They were impressive though.

... And most of them didn’t manage to do the whole challenge without breaking something.
I was actually disappointed with this year’s edition. Is it me or are the truck less reliable and not that much more powerful than last year’s?
(also, triple turbos looks like an easy way to blow stuff up).

Yeah. I kinda want a diesel now. Maybe not that much power. I’d like to drive it and not be doing rebuilds on a DSM schedule.

I mean yeah. Anything making that much power is going to struggle to stay together.

well when you tune engines within the last 10% of their life... but yea beat em till they break haha

eh really those are just because all the power. If you get a good maintained one and throw a 100hp tune on your golden. Each one has their quirck tho. I tend to like powerstokes.

Well yeah because they’re making all of the boost.
But a diesel would be really fun. Do I have the money for a diesel truck? absolutely not.

Those triple turbo setups were awe inspiring, they could actually spool consistently. That Duramax was really bad-ass, even if it broke.

yeah but I mean...
Last year’s top contender made 2500 lb/ft of torque and stayed intact through the whole challenge.
This year’s highest torque figure was 1900 and had trouble throughout the runs.
I’m actually surprised how well their transmission and transfer cases handle the load... they are running 2-3 times the stock output.

yea my powerstroke isnt too bad buts its a 99.
Yea triple turbos is pretty crazy boost levels
![]() 10/17/2016 at 00:16 |

yea two turbos to spool one massive one... insane

Any good truck that’s a diesel is going to be really expensive because all the dudes want a diesel because the south.

A full, broad, power band. They didn’t have to sit and spool for 2 minutes like a tractor puller.

Not shown:
-Taking the cab off to replace the turbo and do the heads
-Rebuilding the transmission every 30k

ah yea true that. Also mine takes 14 quarts every oil change... lol and maintenance parts are more expensive b/c heavy duty
![]() 10/17/2016 at 01:39 |

lol we dynoed a huge single turbo cummins on friday at the shop. thing needed long time to spool up

naw can be done with cab on. also 6.0's were just faste to remove the cab. 6.4's are a bit easier.
built trannies have lifetime warranty and built very strong. but any vehicle that has 800 hp is going to wear out trannies quickly.

Impressive. That is a fast diesel.
And I’ll be the cranky old guy and say “take it to the track”
